Nancy and Bob Risen’s bay stallion Khaberet PGA ++// seems to thrive on new challenges! Trained by Liz Bentley of II Farms in Joplin, MO, this 2004 son of Khadraj NA won his first US National awards in 2009 with a Top Ten at the US Nationals in the Western Pleasure Junior Horse which had 40 entries that year. Since that time “Khab” has continued to be a force to be reckoned with in Western Pleasure being named US National Champion in 2012. With his smooth, natural gaits and fabulous disposition he was a perfect choice for Liz to train for side-saddle and the duo won back to back National Championships in 2017 and 2018 in that division.
Since Liz finds that new challenges help to keep him happy, in 2020 Liz set her sights on Arabian Ranch Riding at Nationals. Knowing that this class could require entries to work around cattle, Liz and Dave invested in a cattle pen and cattle and Liz set to work introducing Khab to cows. All the preparation was well worth it with Khaberet earning a National Top Ten in the first Arabian Ranch Riding Championship. That same year, owner Nancy Risen introduced him to another new division—Performance Halter—bringing home a second Top Ten for 2020 in the Arabian Performance Stallions class.
2021 saw the debut of the Ranch Rail classes at the US Arabia Nationals and Khaberet PGA proved his mettle by rising to the top of a tough field of 31 entries to be named the first ever Arabian Ranch Horse Rail Pleasure Champion.
